Port Lincoln Hotel wins National AHA Award for best tourism initiative
There is so much to do in Port Lincoln, we thought we'd provide you with a short list including everything from shark dives to wine tasting, boat charters to walks along the coast line. It's up to you which one you chose! This initiative was recognised as the best in the country, with the Port Lincoln Hotel winning the Best Tourism Initiative through the AHA Awards. We can help you plan the best holiday break, so here are some suggestions of things to see and do...
1: One of the most amazing one day adventures - an Australian first and only available in Port Lincoln. Swim in a cage and see the Great White Sharks face to face, near Neptune Island: www.sharkcagediving.com.au
We have bunk rooms available specifically for guests joining us on the Calypso Shark Dives, with $70pp bunk rooms per night. These rooms are equipped with double bunk with king single above, with linen and doonas. Each room has en suite and fridge (no mini bar contents) as well as plasma screen. For larger groups we have three bunk rooms with $50pp for three or more guests. You still have access to our bars, restaurant, fully equipped gym and pool when you stay in these bunk rooms.
2: Take a short boat trip to a tuna farm and hand feed, swim with or see the region's most valuable fish from the underwater viewing platform with Adventure Bay Charters. You can also swim with the playful sea-lions on a half day adventure near Hopkins Island so visit www.adventurebaycharters.com.au
3: Port Lincoln's newest tourist attraction "Swim with the Tuna" also offers short trips to either view, feed, or swim with the 30+ kg tuna! The round trip takes 2.5 hours leaving from the Marina, with a small 'Diver's Deli' on board. Call 1300 008 862 or visit www.swimwiththetuna.com.au to book.

6: Glen-Forest Tourist Park and Vineyard offers a hands on experience with kangaroos, camels, koalas, wombats and goats. Walk in the bird aviary, feed the koalas and enjoy Putt Putt golf: www.visitglenforest.com
7: Port Lincoln is proud of its connection to Makybe Diva - the only horse to win the Melbourne Cup three times in a row. The life sized statue is a must see when you visit the foreshore.
8: Axel Stenross Maritime Museum is the place to explore the unique maritime history of Port Lincoln. Still a working slipway and blacksmith shop, there are souvenirs and relics for all to enjoy. Call 8682 1291 for more information.
9: Sample local wines at either www.delacollinewines.com.au or www.bostonbaywines.com.au with delicious local produce and breathtaking views.
10: There are numerous fishing charters and boat trips to choose from in Port Lincoln, Coffin Bay and surrounding areas - so our best advice is to visit the Visitor Information Centre: www.visitportlincoln.net

Wednesday 29th February - Friday 2nd March 2012:
This is more like a seven-day festival than a couple of race days. The whole town joins in the carnival atmosphere and puts on a great party. There is always something happening day and night and people travel from across the country to experience Port Lincoln at its best. The race days (Wed and Fri) are full of everything you would expect from a big event like this - fashion, food (the best seafood in the state), wine, entertainment and racing are all part of the fun and excitement. The highlight of the meeting is the Port Lincoln Cup on Friday and it's becoming one of the most popular and prestigious regional meetings in South Australia. But don't forget to book early because accommodation is a very precious thing during Carnival Week.
Friday 17th - Wednesday 22nd February 2012
This is a race of 156 nautical miles finishing in the picturesque city of Port Lincoln. Port Lincoln, the home to Australia’s largest fishing fleet and some of Australia’s premier cruising grounds, is the jewel in South Australia’s crown.
This will be the 37th Lincoln Week Regatta. The Port Lincoln Yacht Club will have events throughout the week and we will bring you more info in the coming weeks.
